What is TH4?

TH4 is a membrane that is engineered in our own factories and is made exclusively for Red Ledge products. It is a multi-layer microporous polyurethane that is completely waterproof, breathable and windproof. Each membrane must pass a hydrostatic test where water is poured into a cylinder and vertical water pressure is applied directly on the membrane before penetration could occur to break the seal.

How is it Waterproof?

The pores of the TH4 membrane are thousands of times smaller than droplets of water, forming a barrier from the elements, keeping you dry on the inside. This membrane makes the fabric waterproof, but Red Ledge takes extra steps to ensure that the entire garments is 100% waterproof.

Red Ledge also combines all TH4 products with a DWR (Durable Water Repellent) treatment to the outer surface of the garment. This protects the fabric from dirt, oil and water, causing them to bead up and roll off the surface. We also factory heat-seal all garment seams, preventing water from leaking through the stitching in even the worst of conditions. So you can be assured that no matter what Nature throws at you, you are wearing the perfect jacket to stay dry.

How is it Breathable?

No matter how cold it gets, when playing in the outdoors, you can get hot when wearing several layers, and your body reacts and cools itself by perspiring. This perspiration vapor can make you hot, uncomfortable, and wet as it builds up and turns to moisture. But a TH4 breathable membrane has pores that are larger than a molecule of water vapor, which is the form your perspiration takes. This allows your perspiration to escape from the confines or your jacket, keeping you cool, dry and comfortable.
